TL;DR: It's good stuff, works with the XSX just fine, and absolutely worth the money. If you're looking for a headset controller, I recommend this one. I've been using it for a bit over a month now and am completely satisfied.More details:I got tired of sifting through multiple menus to adjust chat balance and volume so I decided to pick up one of these. I was cautiously optimistic since even though the product description and Turtle Beach's web site say it works with the Xbox Series X, there were reports that it doesn't work with the Xbox Series X controller. As it turns out, I didn't need to worry about it. It works flawlessly with both my Xbox One S and Xbox Series X controllers on the Series X.First, I'll say I really had zero interest in the "Superhuman Hearing" feature but I tried it out anyway. It's really just an EQ to boost mid to upper-mid range frequencies (from what I can tell). That kind of thing doesn't really help much for what I play so I haven't used it past the initial test.Similarly, the other EQ presets don't do much for me. The headset I'm using with it is pretty good already so doing things with an EQ isn't really necessary. For what it's worth, they don't sound bad. I just don't need them. Now, the killer app here is the mic monitoring and background noise filters. My headset is a completely over-the-ear thing and lets in very little outside noise so having the mic monitoring helps a lot with talking at the right volume, and it's very clean sounding. There aren't many downsides to this but there could be a couple of small improvements:It can sometimes be hard to adjust the chat / game mix and volume without looking down at the controller due to the stiffness of the buttons and how you have to press in relatively specific locations to activate them. This is really only a tiny nitpick and it's still worlds better than digging through menus on-screen. I also expect that with time, the buttons will soften up a little and muscle memory will kick in, making it easier. The other thing is I wish the mute button light stayed on solid. As it is, when you activate the mute button, its red light slowly fades in and out. A couple of times I've muted myself and forgot about it because when I looked down to pick up the controller, the light was off. Again, this is a really tiny thing and not enough to dock points for.I would have loved to give this product 5 stars. So, consider this a 4.5 and I'll tell you why I'm deducting 0.5 marks below. (Maybe it might not be the fault of the device, would love to hear the suppliers feedback to my comment)First, it is truly an amazing product. Absolute game changer (no pun intended). I have been using this device for a little over a month. So, even though I have a 7.1 surround sound headset with a mic, due to compatibility issues with my Xbox controller I was unable to use the Mic. After reading reviews about the turtlebay audio controller I bought two so my partner and I can game.I saw some comments regarding the packaging. I didn't find any issues with it. The device comes with comprehensive instructions as well.It is very easy to install, just plug it in to the Xbox controller , and plug the aux jack of your headset to the devise. There is no external software to run. As I mentioned, I have fantastic headset, but due to compatibility issues I cannot use the headset to it's fullest potential. The turtlebay audio devise has a button (among many buttons) where you can enhance the sounds within the game enabling you to achieve the sound quality that you want - which I think is brilliant. You can adjust the sound setting with the buttons on the device itself. There is a very tiny bug where sometimes the Mic doesn't work and you have to unplug everything and assemble everything back to get it work. Now, I don't know if this is a fault with the devise or with Overwatch (the game) itself. Based on comments, I know overwatch has been having Mic issues for consol players. At the beginning for a couple of weeks, my partner and I can to unplug everything, reassemble, and go in to the consol sound settings (there was nothing to change, but we had to select the same settings - a bit like restarting your PC when something is wrong). Sometimes, my partner can hear me, but I can't hear her, vice versa. Nothing that can't be fixed.Nevertheless, I am really happy that finally I can use my Mic. If you are willing to overlook some of the small bugs, which might not even be the fault of Turtlebay, I highly recommend this device.PS: delivery time was super quick too. I think it was 4 day. (I live in the UAE).Feel free to ask me any questions, if you feel I haven't covered anything.Sharper background sound than standard headphonesIt works great and the enhanced sound button really does allow you to hear every detail. My only problem is that every time I turn off my controller and turn it back on there's no sound until I press the audio preset button. It didn't come with directions so I have no idea if this is normal or if there's a way to fix that. This is a great buyWorks great, you can type if you want to, but if you have the old iPhone headphones you can use the microphone. Now I need to make friends so I can use it. You wanna be my friend?Simple product. If you buy you know what you're buying. I will day this seems to work better than just plugging directly into the ms controller. I feel I experienced less static and less mic drops when using. If you really want the features of this device, then I recommend just buying the turtle beach controller. It works better, offers more features and is already built into a controller that is actually quite good. Either way, you'll get what you pay for.highly recommendSimply put, if you want to get the most out of your headset, Turtle Beach or not this is the adaptor you need. Many customisation options provide settings available for different environments whether it be noisy or quiet. You have your standard chat mixer which is the same as the official Microsoft Stereo Adaptor providing different levels of volume and the level of in-game volume vs party chat volume along with your mute button. All works well and the audible beeps help knowing when your at one extreme or the other. However where this product comes into it’s own for me is two particular features which the Microsoft adaptor is lacking - Microphone Monitoring and Microphone Cancelling.I game in a room where my family are often watching TV or talking etc. As headsets these days provide great noise isolation from the outside world for environments like I described above it has become more and more difficult to actually hear what you are saying, something which when we talk is natural to hear. It can be really strange not hearing what you’re saying and generally you will get louder and even shout down your mic so you can hear yourself annoying others around you in the process. Yet the Turtle Beach adaptor has three levels of Mic Monitoring, feeding back what you say in to your headset. It’s crystal clear and is far superior to the in-build Mic Montoring if you was to plug your headset directly in to your controller. To change the settings keep hold of the mute button and you’ll hear the audible beeps from 1 to 3 for different levels of feedback you require.Secondly if your gaming in a noisy environment the standard Microsoft adaptor will easily pick up on external noise regardless if your headset has a noise cancelling microphone. My friends often mentioned they can hear the TV programme my Wife was watching in the background. Now with the Turtle Beach adaptor you can again change the setting to three different levels, 1 being generally the same as the Microsoft adaptor which I never use. 2 being the best all rounder, cuts out the majority of background noise and will only pick up on high pitched noise such as sneezes, alarms etc and 3 where it will practically cuts out 95% of all background noise. I’ll only use that setting when it’s particular noisy in the room for whatever reason as sometimes it cancels noise that well it’ll miss the very beginning of my sentence if I’m too quiet. One plus over other headset adaptor is the ability to have different game modes for the level of sound too. Extra bass, extra treble or both. Whilst it’s great to have the option there the difference isn’t massively different although you can tell. For FPS games the extra bass setting does give deeper and more dramatic explosions and to be honest I leave it in that setting.Another feature the Turtle Beach headset adaptor provides is ‘Super Human Hearing’ which in essence is there to provide greater accuracy in critical in game moments where you really need to hear the direction of an enemy coming towards you for example. To me it’s a bit of a gimmick and all it does is cut bass and increase treble which is quite uncomfortable after a few minutes. I’m still undecided if it does give you any advantage and I rarely use it.Overall for £25 it’s head and shoulders above the standard Microsoft adaptor and provides more features than the only other alternative in the Astro MixAmp. Without a doubt I’d recommend it.For the second time on my elite controller the audio jack broke (a bit of a common problem) . I wasn't willing to fork out £120 for another controller so thought this would circumnavigate the problem. And it did. Headphones not only work but if anything sound better. I use a non turtle beach headset and it works with no issues. The audio controls are far more intuitive and useful on the fly than going through the settings screen each time. The sound quality is good and while I can't 100% confirm the superhuman hearing feature works I have noticed a bit more clarity with gunfire and footsteps while playing pvp. Not sure I'd have spent the money had the jack not broken but glad I did. Now to write a more critical review on the elite controller. The headset was being plugged directly into the controller 1st of all. It wasn't always responsive. So I had seen this item whilst looking for something else so I thought I would give it a go. I was so surprised I ordered another for the spare controller. The clarity is so much better. I love it adjustment is easy it arrived so quick. I see youtubers talking of issues they have with the headset. This works for me maybe it would be good for you too.I have been using this for a while now, and I am very happy thus far.The instructions say to connect to the controller and connect to Xbox via a USB cable to update the controller.I did try this, but it did nothing.I don’t think this is necessary, as the device worked regardless. The sound is much louder and more immersive and the microphone becomes more sensitive.I do use this with Turtle Beach headphones, I have also tried with other headphones and it works just as well.Based on my experience with this item, I will be recommending the purchase. On balance I'm stuck between a "meh" 3-starts and a "pretty good" 4-stars.... Here's why:What I love about it:It provides comms for any standard type Xbox controller, I've used it on original ones with no headset socket, and ones with the socket. It has volume controls for overall volume and game/chat balance which makes it super convenient to adjust mid-game. That is a superb feature. You have various sound quality setting at the press of a button, with a mix of bass and treble for example. You can also adjust the mic sensitivity to cater for a ambient noise level in your room too, which is again a great feature. What I'm not keen on:The sound quality is quite hissy. You get a consistent hiss in the background no matter what you do. Other controllers I have don't do that at all, only this device. It becomes a bit niggly after a few minutes in a game. The "super human" thing (press the top centre button with the logo on it) and you get super wide stereo separation to give you very directional sound in game, which is sometimes a godsend when you need to hear where something is coming from.... but the sound quality of that setting isn't great! It's even more hissy and the tone has gone so tinny! I've found the stereo separation fine enough on 'normal' mode and use it on one of its non-superhuman settings. Also with the superhuman thing set on the chat audio sounds even worse than game audio under those conditions, which for me renders the superhuman thing a bit "no thanks" to be brutally honest about it.So.... I'm torn between "meh" because of the overall sound qualities from this device, or "pretty good" considering it provides headset comms for original controllers AND the uber-convenient volume controls and other settings. So I'll put aside my gripe about the sound quality as overall this is a really good device. It's enabled an original controller to have in game comms (actually my favourite one as it's still working solid and as tightly responsive as the day it was bought) and it's brought the audio controls straight to the fingertips making it a very useful device indeed. So there we are, I gotta give it 4-stars then. It's very good overall if not perfect, but then am I being too fussy about the sound quality? I guess that's up to the user really. I have to admit you won't be disappointed with it.
