I found this headset while looking for something inexpensive where the ear cushions are large enough to fit around the ears. Smaller headsets tend to have ear cushions that press on the ear and become uncomfortable very quickly. This one is as comfortable as I had hoped it would be. There clearly is a downside to large, comfortable ear cushions and that is the overall size of the headset when you are not using it (it takes up more space). At the time i placed the order, one of the pictures showed that the outside diameter of the ear cushion is 50 mm (2 inches) and I'm happy to report that they are twice as large. 50 mm is apparently the size of the speakers inside but I'm not taking them apart to verify that claim. This is a wired headset which is fine for my purposes and eliminates the need for batteries or regular charging. I didn't measure the length of the cord (part of it is still wound up) but it is more than long enough for sitting in front of the computer. The headset directly connects to a smart phone or tablet. I like that it came with the adapter that allows it to be used on a PC with separate speaker and microphone connections. The sound quality is good but I'm not an audiophile and don't use the headset for music or gaming. Some people have reported that the volume of my voice is lower than that of others on the call (even with my microphone volume set to maximum) but other times it is fine. I'm not sure whether this is due to the headset or simply because the microphone arm is not in the correct position to pick up my voice properly. It is not really a problem as everybody still says that they can hear me clearly. It looks well made but as expected in this price class is mostly plastic. Perfectly fine for home or office use but perhaps not sturdy enough for a road warrior. It would probably break quickly if abused. It is exactly what I was looking for: functional, comfortable and cheap.I didn't know what to expect from this product as I have never owned a pair of gaming headsets, but I wasn't willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a pair of headsets that may or may not enhance my experience. So let me break down the description given:-- 7.1 surround - I've always see this more as a gimmick than an actual feature, even in headphones that cost hundreds of dollars but don't have discreet speakers. The computer sees these headsets as stereo and not 7.1 so whatever program you run, whether it's a trailer with Dolby Atmos or a game, the output will still be stereo. While their program supposedly tries to simulate virtual surround, you would still need the source to be 7.1 discreet channels so that their driver can process the signal to simulate surround sound. These headsets do not have DTS-HD or Dolby ATMOS certification so they aren't actually able to process raw 7.1 channel data. It means that in the end, the video player is still just playing stereo sound. The end effect of turning on virtual 7.1 surround sound is that the soundtrack is more "atmospheric" or "wider" sounding, but you wouldn't be able to tell that a sound is coming from your rear left flank. Since I never expected much out of this feature, I didn't mind that it wasn't true 7.1-- USB - True plug and play on Windows 10. I plugged these headphones in and immediately, Windows output sound through them. No muss no fuss. It just worked. You can install their driver, which turns on the "virtual 7.1" feature but that's pretty much like installing drivers for any realtek sound card. You just have access to a few extra DSP effects. Honestly, I don't like extra processing to my audio signals. Being USB, it is a completely digital signal to your headphones all the way up until the speakers themselves. On 3.5mm headphones, the audio signal is analog at 3.5mm port, at which point, you will get some signal degradation just from the connection itself.-- Gaming Headset with Microphone - I don't really play games online so I can't tell you whether the microphone is better or worse than any other headset but I can tell you that I used the Spirit Wolf with a few games and I was hearing sounds that I didn't hear in my Sennheisers.-- PC Gamers - BONUS! This headset isn't just for PC gaming, it works with the Nintendo switch, too, using the USB port on the dock. Even the volume buttons on the headset works! My overall experience with Spirit Wolf has been positive. The sound is crisp and clear and the high frequencies are very good but the bass could have been better. I'm not big on turning up the bass so it's not a big loss. I still feel that the overall sound quality is very good. The headset is circumaural which means it surrounds your ears and the speakers are not pressed right against your head. It means that noise isolation isn't as good as earbuds or even supra-aural headphones (which press up against your ear), but there's a reason professional gaming headphones are this style. You can wear them for longer periods without discomfort and you are able to achieve a wider sound.Overall, I recommend this headset for its price and overall sound quality. The ability to use it with my Switch is just bonus.EDIT: I must amend my previous conclusions regarding the virtual surround sound. I recently started playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider and as a test, I went into the audio settings for the game. The options were stereo, 5.1, 7.1, and spatial sound. Reading the description for spatial sound, it states that it is meant to be used with Windows Spatial Sound (right click on the speaker icon in your system tray and you'll see an option to turn it on). Well, I tried the spatial sound in three different ways: with only the in-game spatial sound setting on, the in-game setting + Windows Spatial Sound on, and in-game setting + XEar driver 7.1 on. All three give slightly different positional sound effects but I found that the XEar effect was the best. The sounds simulate a wide environment and I was able to distinguish the direction of each distinct sound source. Very impressive. ;-)Great for budget gaming headphones does not feel cheap sound quality is suprisingly amazing mic quality is OK it's just a bit quiet (due to the mic arm design) but it's fine there's minimal static noise, the pads are very high quality. And suprisingly, works with my phone considering it has a USB connector instead of the analog 3.5 mm jacks, i just pluged it on my LG G6 via OTG without needing additional setups but bare in mind it will sound quieter since smartphone output power isn't as strong as a Laptop's or PC's USB output power yes they're both 5v but the amps has big difference and also its totally not suited for used with phones because of the long 2 meter cable and it will pretty much drain your battery. All in all would recommend and the surround thingy is not great pretty much crap there's barely any difference to the sound best to use in stereo mode with an EQ configuration of your choice.I tried a bunch of headset (including the hyperx) and this is still the one I go for,You can actually hear everything that's going on in FPS game , the faintest footsteps and their direction. The microphone that's included is actually pretty damn clear and good quality (I was shocked at how it sounded better than a 180$ headset)I've owned 2 of these over 5 years and Im prolly gonna replace it soon, I think if you take care of it well it can last around 3 years. Im always dropping mine on the floor and its still functionnal.Over for the money you spend on it still beats more expensive choices on the market. Y todo genialI don't normally do reviews on items but I thought I'd make an exception for this headset. I bought this headset expecting it just to be something to use for a little bit before I got a really nice headset. But after useing it for over a year I've never felt the need to upgrade. The main reason I decided to do a review is because I've gotten multiple compliments on the clarity of my voice and people are asking me if I'm a streamer because my voice is so clear when I talk to them. Another reason is because these headphones are actually surprisingly durable. They plastic on the ear cups feels like it's made out of McDonalds toys but is actually very strong. the plastic on the headband is very plyable and can be bent in a circle without breaking.. Fortnite makes me angry sometimes and I've thrown these at the ground as hard as I can many many times and one time the ear cup actually extended all the way off the rails and was hanging by a wire and I just stuffed the ear cup back on the rails and it's like nothing happened. These headphones dont really have bass but they have a clear high and mid range so thinks like footsteps in R6 siege can be heard very easily. The only complaint I have for these if after 6 or so hours of having them they start to hurt the top of your head. But that's the case with most headphones these days.. you can easily spend 3x as much for a headset that is quieter less durable and with a lesser quality voice quality (*cough cough* my xbox one astro a40s) all in all you cant go wrong with this product unless you get a factory defect or something.
